Lycopene is one of the major carotenoids and is found naturally almost exclusively in tomatoes and tomato products.Among the common dietary carotenoids,lycopene has the highest singlet-oxygen quenching capacity in vitro.Remarkable inverse relationships between lycopene intake or serum lycopene level and cancer risk have been observed.This paper is aimed to dissertate the role of lycopene in antioxidation and anticarcinogenesis.
