The pretreatment of food samples is a crucial procedure for determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in them. Several new pretreatment methods have been developed during recent years. Supercritical fluid extraction, microwave assisted extraction and accelerated solvent extraction have reduced the time and solvent needed for sample extraction. The automated clean up system and novel HPLC column have simplified the procedure of sample clean up.
