To insure the hygienic quality of food additives,23 food additive manufactures and 65 self-formulated standards for quality of products were examined. The following problems were found:1)some of the standards did not accord with the national standards;2)the technical demand of some self-formulated standards did not fully reflect the main feature of the product and the demand for hygienic safety;3)some of the standards had impracticable methods to test the quality of the products;4)some manufactures even did not obey their own standard. In light of the above findings,7 suggestions were proposed.
