Abstract:In China, sports nutrition food is defined as "food specially processed to meet the physiological metabolic needs, exercise capacity, and specific nutrient requirements of people who engage in sport and exercise (those who participate in sport and exercise at least three times per week, for at least 30 minutes per session, with moderate or higher intensity)." This article provides a brief overview of the national food safety standard, developmental history, and regulatory requirements of sports nutrition food in China. It analyzed the challenges faced in the development of the sports nutrition food in China and proposed a research framework focusing on the nutrients of sports nutrition food, initiating the "Series Evaluation and Commentary on Sports Nutrition" project.
