Dr. MENG's research focuses on the identification and characterization of foodborne pathogenic bacteria, as well as bacterial drug resistance studies, and has published more than 100 monographs, reviews, and book chapters on this topic. Dr. Meng is a member of several expert committees, including the National Advisory Committee on Food Microbiology Standards, the Food Safety Committee of the National Academy of Sciences, the Microbiology Committee of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia, and the Steering Committee of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Network of Cooperative Training Institutions.
