An analysis on the situation of administrative punishment and fines to food enterprises from 1997 to 2002, especially in 2002 in Zhejiang province was performed for improving the appropriateness of enforcing food hygienic law and regulations.The results showed: with the progress of reform of the health inspection system in Zhejiang, the strength on food hygiene inspection and the appropriate level of punishment in 2002 has been obviously improved compared with former five years.
