With the rapid development of genetically modified (GM) crops,a number of fundamental issues regarding health concerns have been raised. The potential allergenicity of GM foods is one of the focuses of attention. Recently,the development of animal models used for the assessment of allergenicity of GM crops has become a hot field of research and development. Several rodent models used for detecting the allergenicity of genetically modified foods were reviewed.
